With an arsenal of cross-connected effects and extremely manipulated electronic sound sources, Epic Rick (Richard van Kruysdijk) is clearly not another ambient laptop act, but distinguishes himself by utilising only live generated sounds and analogue equipment.
He intuitively builds dark, long, haunting chords, which he drags through gravel while sounds are reversed, mangled and chopped.
The sound is extended to the video projection, showing live generated and manipulated abstract images that react on the live audio.
'Proximity Effect' (2020) is an interactive artwork that is audience led, allowing viewers to influence the behaviour of the visuals by moving closer to and further from the projection screen. This movement triggers sound samples that in their turn generate and alter visual lines and patterns.
'Glitch Prints' is a series of 9 prints (100x100 cm.) that are created through digitally distorting (glitching) symbolic sigils that Richard has created as titles for his CUT WORMS album 'Cable Mounds'.
